Poole Pottery Jug

I am reasonably happy with this but would like to try a looser style for my still lifes.

Painting of Ollie

I painted this last summer after persuading my teenaged son to let me take photos. I am really pleased with this painting as it was the first time I felt that I had got the hang of skin tones properly.

I love painting hands and this is a section of a commission. White fabric and the patina on the arm of the chair were also really enjoyable to paint.

Study of some material

Thought it would be useful to practise painting fabric, satins have wonderful folds and shimmering highlights. I really enjoyed this one.

Babies are so beautiful to paint - backgounds not quite sorted when I did this one!

Getting Started!

I have been teaching myself how to use pastels for about 12 months now - a friend invited me to a pastel workshop last year and this was the first time I had ever used them. They're fantastic! Such pure colours.

Unison are my favourite and although I have a few colours from other makers I don't tend to use them so much. I just treated myself to the 72 set - feeling a lot poorer now!

Portraits are what I have been focussing on but am going to get down to some still life drawing soon.
