Close up Architecture

Architecture (Wuthering Heights!)

This is the first attempt at a still life using acrylic paints on canvas. 12" x 30" Not sure if the photo does it justice - I may have to learn a new photographic technique as well!

Favourite Things Exhibition is underway!

It's finally here! Booked a year ago, I have just put up all my paintings in the small gallery space at A la Ronde. A la Ronde is a beautiful small National Trust property on the outskirts of Exmouth. I have taken some photos and have also managed to get a small piece in the local press. You can see this at http://www.thisisexeter.co.uk/everyday-objets-d-art/story-15723004-detail/story.html

The Wedding Photo

Something a bit different! I wanted to paint the bundle of old letters but they needed something else to go with them. Make up your own story.

Marble

This caught my eye and I may try a larger version - this is only 7" x 5". Up close there's a celestial look to the inside of this marble that's captivating.

Experiment in oils

Here is my first experiment with oils and landscapes. It's really quite different to anything else I've done. Also it's learning two things at once, how to use the paints and how to construct a landscape!

Happy New Year

For 2012 I am looking forward to my little exhibition in April, but not without some nervousness! Choosing the right paintings, framing and publicity - all new to me!! I have also bought some oil paints so there may be a few more experiments appearing in the next few weeks! 2011 was a happy painting year and I have learnt a lot, although much more to learn no doubt. It's slow when you're teaching yourself but maybe I will treat myself to a class in 2012!

Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful new year!
